Our metals for sheet metal fabrication

Material Properties Typical usage Price
Aluminum 5052 High strength-to-weight ratio with excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments. Good fatigue strength, moderate formability, and outstanding thermal and electrical conductivity. Non-magnetic and non-combustible. Electronic enclosures, marine equipment, aircraft components, fuel tanks, pressure vessels, general sheet metal applications, and appliance parts requiring high fatigue resistance. $$$
Aluminum 5754 Superior corrosion resistance to saltwater environments. Excellent formability and weldability with good strength retention after welding. Better ductility than 5052 with comparable strength. Non-magnetic with excellent low-temperature performance. Automotive body panels, structural components, truck bodies, ship building, architectural applications, and food processing equipment requiring high corrosion resistance. $$$
Copper C110 Exceptional electrical conductivity (>99.9% IACS) and thermal conductivity. Excellent malleability, ductility, and corrosion resistance. Naturally antimicrobial with high purity (99.9% copper). Easily soldered and brazed. Electrical busbars and components, heat sinks, thermal management systems, RF shielding, plumbing fixtures, decorative architectural elements, and antimicrobial touch surfaces. $$$$
Stainless steel 304 Excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion and many organic and inorganic chemicals. Good weldability and formability with high strength (yield strength ~30 ksi). Non-magnetic in annealed condition with excellent low and high-temperature properties. Food processing and kitchen equipment, chemical containers, medical and surgical instruments, architectural trim and molding, laboratory equipment, and consumer appliances requiring corrosion resistance. $$$$
Stainless steel 316L Superior corrosion resistance compared to 304, especially against chlorides and acids. Excellent high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance up to 1600°F. Lower carbon content ("L" designation) provides enhanced weldability without carbide precipitation. Medical implants and surgical instruments, pharmaceutical processing equipment, chemical processing vessels, marine fittings and components, outdoor architectural structures, and food processing equipment in high-salinity environments. $$$$$
Steel 1018 Good combination of strength, ductility, and hardness with excellent weldability. Easily machined with approximately 65 ksi tensile strength. Cost-effective with consistent quality, but susceptible to rust and corrosion without protective coating. Structural components, general machine parts, automotive components, metal furniture, jigs and fixtures, brackets, mounting plates, and general fabrication projects where strength and cost efficiency are priorities. $$
Galvanized Steel Carbon steel with zinc coating that provides excellent corrosion protection. Self-healing properties when scratched, as zinc corrodes preferentially to protect the steel. Good strength and formability with typical coating thickness of 0.002"-0.005". HVAC ductwork, outdoor enclosures, electrical junction boxes, structural members for construction, roofing materials, agricultural equipment, and applications requiring corrosion resistance in moderately corrosive environments. $$$
Brass C260 70% copper and 30% zinc alloy with excellent formability, ductility, and cold-working properties. Good electrical and thermal conductivity (approximately 28% IACS). Naturally antimicrobial with moderate strength and excellent corrosion resistance in non-marine environments. Decorative architectural hardware, electrical components requiring good conductivity, musical instruments, plumbing fittings, heat exchanger components, and applications requiring both aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance. $$$$
